Heath Streak, a former captain of Zimbabwe, died at the age of 49 after a protracted fight with colon and liver cancer. Streak’s wife, Nadine Streak, broke the sad news of his departure through a touching Facebook post.
The father of her two beautiful children and the love of my life, she said, “was carried to be with the angels from his house, where he wished to spend his last days surrounded by his family and closest loved ones, in the early hours of this morning, Sunday, the 3rd of September 2023. He did not leave the park alone because he was surrounded by love and calm. Streaky, our souls are bonded for all time. I won’t hold you until then.

Cricket icon Streak was born in Bulawayo and is most recognised for his skill as a fast bowler. He possessed the distinction of taking 216 wickets at an average of 28.14, making him Zimbabwe’s all-time highest wicket-taker in Test cricket. In addition, during Test games, he amassed 1990 runs at an average of 22.35. In ODIs, Streak scored 2,943 runs at a 28.29 average while taking 239 wickets at a 29.82 average.
