Gary Kirsten, who took over as Pakistan’s white-ball coach roughly four months ago, is preparing to step down.

Cricket in Pakistan is undergoing constant transition, and white-ball coach Gary Kirsten is reportedly planning to step down. According to a source, Kirsten, who won the 2011 ODI World Cup with the Indian squad captained by MS Dhoni, is about to leave the Pakistan men’s cricket team just four months after taking over. Since Kirsten became Pakistan’s head coach for ODI and T20I, a lot has changed. Among the issues that stand out from Babar Azam’s four-month term are his comeback as captain, his resignation, and changes to the selection committee.

There have been some significant disagreements between Kirsten and the players in recent weeks, according to a report on some news sources. Although Kirsten’s recent request to name David Reid as a High-Performance coach was denied by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the board may not have had a direct influence on him to consider his future with the men’s national team. The PCB disappointed Kirsten by providing a few more names as possibilities.

Although an official choice has not yet been made, Kirsten’s successor may be named by the PCB in the days ahead. One of the front-runners for the position is apparently Jason Gillespie, the men’s national team’s current red-ball coach. Some significant disagreements between Kirsten and the players have surfaced in recent weeks, according to a report on Cricbuzz. Although the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) may not have had a direct influence on Kirsten’s decision to consider a career with the men’s national team, the board recently rejected his request to name David Reid as a High-Performance coach. Kirsten was underwhelmed with the variety of names the PCB offered.

The PCB may name Kirsten’s replacement in the days ahead, although a formal decision on the topic has not yet been taken. The men’s national team’s current red-ball coach, Jason Gillespie, is allegedly one of the top contenders for the position.
