Dinesh Karthik has referred to Team India’s selection of Ravindra Jadeja in the lineup for the third Test as “defensive.”
The Indian squad changed their spin-bowling attack for the third consecutive game, substituting Ravindra Jadeja for Ravichandran Ashwin. Ashwin replaced Washington Sundar, who had played for India in the first Test match in Perth. The addition of Jadeja in third place was another modification. A former India wicket-keeper batsman criticized Gautam Gambhir and Rohit Sharma’s decision as “defensive” in light of the changes in the spin-bowling department, reminding us of the goals that Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri once shared as captain and coach.”Gautam Gambhir and Rohit Sharma have chosen a route that offers greater batting, I must say. “They’ve realized that none of the three (two) spinners have had much of an impact in the bowling,” Karthik stated in a Cricbuzz chat.
This is what they may be thinking, and they are probably afraid that we should try to select the greatest batter among the three. “I don’t like it,” he continued.
Karthik reminded Rohit and Gambhir that if you don’t aim for 20 wickets, you can’t win Test matches. Karthik believed that although the squad was more evenly distributed in the batting unit after Jadeja was added to the starting lineup, their bowling ability had diminished.”You have to give Ravi Shastri and Virat Kohli credit for their modest success during their tour since they set a goal of taking 20 wickets. They always wanted to play 6:5 (6 batsman and 5 bowlers), therefore the question was always, “What can we do as a unit to get 20 wickets?” he clarified.
With Nitish (Kumar) Reddy, who occasionally gives us a few overs with the ball and takes a wicket, India is quite fortunate right now. To date, he has perhaps been the series’ greatest discovery. should adopt the attitude that you don’t mind a lack of bowling but you want depth in your batting,” Karthik stated. However, there is a counterargument that asks what Ashwin and Washington have done with the ball that a Jadeja cannot. That’s all there would be. He continued, “I think it’s a little defensive, but I can see where they’re coming from.
