Rahul Dravid’s term as head coach of the Indian cricket team came to an end after the team won the T20 World Cup in 2024, and Gautam Gambhir was named the next coach.
Gambhir’s first task as head coach will be the forthcoming T20I and ODI series against Sri Lanka. Gambhir was long considered the front-runner to succeed Dravid. Kolkata Knight Riders lost their coach, who helped them win the IPL 2024 championship, as a result of the hiring. In light of several rumors that assistant coach Abhishek Nayar may join Gambhir in leading Team India, KKR is reportedly in the process of restructuring its coaching staff in anticipation of the 2025 campaign.Under Gambhir’s captaincy, Kallis won the IPL championship in 2012 and 2014. He was a member of KKR during his playing career. In 2015, Kallis also served as KKR’s batting consultant. Following Trevor Bayliss’ resignation to become England’s head coach, Kallis was named head coach.
After serving as the head coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for four Indian Premier League (IPL) seasons, Kallis resigned in 2019 to become a batting consultant for the South African cricket team.
In the KKR coaching system, Kallis can make a return now that Gambhir has joined the Indian cricket team as head coach. According to a report by The Telegraph, his name is currently making waves.
