Glenn Maxwell, the Punjab Kings’ renowned all-rounder, was chastised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for violating the IPL Code of Conduct. The offence occurred during the IPL 2025 match between PBKS and Chennai Super Kings in Mullanpur, Chandigarh. Fans were treated to a run fest as PBKS recorded a massive total of 219/6 in 20 overs, thanks to young opener Priyansh Arya’s 103-run knock off 42 balls. Later, CSK put up a fight, but Shreyas Iyer and co. had the final laugh, restricting them to 201/5 and clinching an 18-run triumph.During this critical victory, PBKS all-rounder Maxwell violated the IPL Code of Conduct and was fined 25% of his match money.

“Glenn Maxwell acknowledged to the Level 1 infraction under Article 2.2 (abuse of fixtures and fittings during the Match) and accepted the Match Referee’s punishment. The Match Referee’s judgment is final and binding for Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, according to an IPL media release.

Article 2.2 of the BCCI’s Code of Conduct addresses “Abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during a match.””Article 2.2 includes any action(s) outside the course of normal cricket actions, such as hitting or kicking the wickets, as well as any action(s) that deliberately (i.e. intentionally), recklessly, or negligently (in either case, even if accidental) causes damage to the advertising boards, boundary fences, dressing room doors, mirrors, windows, and other fixtures and fittings.” For example, this offense may be committed without limitation when a player swings his/her bat violently in frustration, causing damage to an advertising board,” according to the rule. With the triumph over CSK, PBKS returned to winning ways after losing their previous encounter against the Rajasthan Royals. Meanwhile, it was the five-time winners’ fourth consecutive loss, as they sit ninth in the points table with one win in five games.
