Police reported on Wednesday that a powerlifter who had won a gold medal at the Junior National Games had died in Rajasthan’s Bikaner area after a 270 kg rod had fallen on her neck during practice.

Yashtika Acharya, a 17-year-old girl powerlifter, passed away at the gym. According to Naya Shahar SHO Vikram Tiwari, the gold champion player’s neck fractured when the 270 kg rod landed on her on Tuesday.Acharya was brought to the hospital right after the accident, where medical professionals pronounced her dead. According to Tiwari, the mishap occurred as Yashtika was being forced to lift weights by the trainer in the gym. The accident also caused minor injuries to the trainer.
According to the SHO, the family has not filed a case in this respect. The body was given to the family on Wednesday following the post-mortem.
The strength sport of powerlifting involves three attempts at the maximum weight on the squat, bench press, and deadlift. The Olympics do not include this sport.
