The BCCI is all set to change their COVID-19 policy, according to which players who are positive can also play in the India versus Australia WTC final.
BCCI is ready to change its COVID-19 policy. According to the current policy, a player who tests positive must be in isolation for five days and is likely to be on the ICC lines. But now, according to the changed policy of the BCCI, they will allow the India Cricket Team to play despite testing positive for COVID-19. The ICC also changed its stance on COVID-19 policy and allowed players to take part despite testing positive for the Commonwealth Games. For the IPL 2023, players must be in 7-day isolation. Rohit Sharma missed out on the India vs. England 5th Test because of COVID.
Therefore, in order to avoid another situation where the Test captain misses out on the biggest Test match, the BCCI is going to reverse its policy, and now a player can take part in the match despite testing positive if he does not show any symptoms.
A BCCI official told InsideSport that “we are in discussion if we should reverse the COVID policy for WTC and follow the ICC guidelines on this. We have the old COVID policy in place for IPL 2023 to minimise the risk of exposure in the event of an outbreak. But all the players and officials are vaccinated with booster shots. Hence, it should not be a problem.”
