The Gujarat Titans have swept the Lucknow Super Giants. The Titans defeated Lucknow Super Giants by a score of 56 runs, becoming the first team to secure a spot in the Playoffs. With a loss in this match, Lucknow drops to third place on the points standings.
On Sunday afternoon, it was a high-scoring match at Gujarat’s Narendra Modi Stadium. Krunal Pandya erred by choosing to bowl first on a belter of a wicket. Gujarat openers Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill were aggressive from the start, putting up 142 runs in 73 deliveries.
Lucknow’s response was headed by openers Kyle Mayers and Quinton de Kock, who was playing in his first IPL 2023 game. The openers got LSG off to a flying start, scoring 72 runs on the powerplay and totaling 88 runs. After Mayers was out, the needed run-rate steadily increased, and all of the batters, even the set Quinton de Kock, struggled to time the ball. LSG eventually fell 56 runs short of the mark, finishing at 171/7 in 20 overs.
