Gujarat Giants defeated UP Warriorz by eight runs in their crucial match in the Cricket Women’s Premier League last night at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
Captain Beth Mooney’s unbroken 74 runs off of 52 balls helped Gujarat, who chose to bat first, record 152 for 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Notwithstanding Deepti Sharma’s unbroken 88 off 60 balls, UP could only muster 144 for five in 20 overs in reply. Pucker Shabnam Shakil, sixteen, took three wickets for Gujarat Giants.
Despite having four points and their second victory in seven games, Gujarat is still at the bottom of the table. With three victories, five losses, and six points overall, UP is in fourth place.
