At the age of sixteen, Sachin Tendulkar made his Test debut on November 15, 1989. On December 18, of that year, he participated in his debut ODI.
Sachin Tendulkar, the renowned Indian cricket player, is turning 51 today. The Indian cricket community celebrated his birthday on social media on Wednesday. In an effort to wish Tendulkar a happy birthday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which was previously Twitter, resorted to the social media platform X.
In addition to wishing Sachin a very happy birthday, former Indian left-handed batsman Suresh Raina said that players continue to be held to a higher standard by his elegance both on and off the field.
“@sachin_rt, happy birthday, Paji! Millions have been inspired by your extraordinary career, and you continue to set the standard with your grace both on and off the field. I hope this year is as amazing as your cover drives, and that you are well and happy! #HappyBirthdaySachin,” Raina wrote on Twitter.
Sachin has broken a lot of records in ODI cricket in addition to Test cricket.
Sachin continues to hold the record for most runs in both forms with 18,426 ODI averages of 44.83, 49 hundreds and 96 half-centuries, and 15,921 Tests average of 53.78 with 51 centuries and 68 fifties. Along with becoming the first cricket player to play 200 Test matches and score a double hundred in one-day internationals, The Master Blaster is also a record holder.
Tendulkar played for the Indian squad that took home the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup title. After making his World Cup debut in 1992, India’s victory over Sri Lanka in the championship match in 2011 fulfilled his desire of winning the coveted trophy. India won by six wickets.
As a player, Sachin was also a member of the Mumbai Indians from 2008 to 2013, winning the Indian Premier League in 2013.
