about the Sikh community, saying “Only a Naalayak…”

On Monday, Akmal expressed regret for his comments regarding Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh, which provoked a great deal of controversy.

Former cricket player Harbhajan Singh of India criticized Kamran Akmal of Pakistan on Wednesday, calling his offensive remarks regarding Sikhs “childish” and questioning if the latter was aware of the community’s history. The star spinner advised Akmal to refrain from mocking people’s religions and to never again attempt to offend religious feelings.

During an ARY News segment including coverage of India against Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup, Akmal made contentious remarks about Arshdeep Singh. The Pakistani cricket player utilized a “Kuch bhi ho sakta hai…12 baj gaye hai” throughout the performance.

After receiving a lot of backlash for his comments, Akmal apologized on Monday.

Harbhajan attacked Akmal, saying that only a “Naalayak” could say something like that.

Harbhajan Singh told ANI, “This is a very childish act and a very absurd statement that only a ‘Nalaayak’ person can do.” It is unnecessary to criticize or make fun of someone’s religion, Kamran Akmal has to realize. I would like to know if Kamran Akmal is aware of the Sikhs’ history, identity, and the extensive work that they have done to preserve your community, mothers, and sisters. Ask your ancestors: “Stop talking rubbish, because the Sikhs used to attack the Mughals at 12 o’clock and save your moms and sisters.”

“It’s fantastic that he realized what was going on so fast and apologized, but he should never attempt to harm any Sikh or religious group again. The former cricket player continued, “We appreciate all religions, whether they be Islam, Sikhism, Hinduism, or Christianity.

After making his remarks, Akmal received a lot of backlash, which ultimately led him to issue an apology. He conveyed his “deep regret” and declared his “utmost respect” for Sikhs around the world.

“I deeply regret my recent comments and sincerely apologize to @harbhajan_singh and the Sikh community. My words were inappropriate and disrespectful. I have the utmost respect for Sikhs all over the world and never intended to hurt anyone. I am truly sorry. #Respect #Apology,” Kamran Akmal posted on X following the backlash on Monday.

Among the first prominent cricketers to strongly condemn Akmal’s comments was Harbhajan Singh.

“Kamraan Akhmal laanat tere lakh di. Before you open your dirty mouth, you should be aware of the history of the Sikh people. It was always at twelve o’clock when your moms and sisters were kidnapped by invaders and we Sikhs rescued them. Disgrace to you…Enjoy some gratitude,” Singh said on X, along by emojis that looked furious.

India beat Pakistan by six runs in a low-scoring thriller on Sunday at Nassau County International Stadium after the former successfully defended a modest total of 120 runs. For his intense spell, Jasprit Bumrah was named “Player of the Match.”
