Sanju Samson should be given a regular role in the Indian squad, according to Harbhajan Singh, who compared the two to MS Dhoni.

Rajasthan Royals, the finalists from the previous year, defeated Gujarat Titans in a dramatic run chase to deliver them their second consecutive home loss. Sanju Samson, their captain, took the initiative and set the tone by hitting a 32-ball 60 to build the groundwork for a challenging run chase that was completed by Shimron Hetmyer. In praising Samson and arguing for his inclusion in the Indian national cricket squad, veteran India spinner Harbhajan Singh compared him to none other than the legendary MS Dhoni.

“Sanju just delivered another captain’s knock. He should be a regular member of the Indian national team (in white ball format), as I have suggested before and still do. He handles fast bowlers and spinners equally well. He has a strong will and understands how to handle pressure. Like MS Dhoni, he has confidence in his skills, said to Harbhajan on Star Sports.

Gujarat Titans got the greatest start in the second innings while defending a target of 178 as their captain Hardik Pandya and bowler Mohammed Shami removed the dangerous combination of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler when they were back in the pavilion with the scores of 1(7) and 0(5), respectively.

Sanju Samson and Devdutt Padikkal were sent in to save Rajasthan’s innings, which was in danger of collapsing. Padikkal concentrated on the rotation of the strike while Sanju Samson began to speed from one side. Padikkal lost his wicket for a score of 26(25) in 8.3 overs, but Rashid Khan entered with his expertise to break the partnership.

Riyan Parag stepped in to encourage Sanju, but Rashid Khan wasn’t willing to give Rajasthan a second opportunity. After returning to the pavilion, Parag received a 5/7.

The captain of Rajasthan Royals continued to play as he pleased and had the GT bowlers follow his lead. Rajasthan was able to regain control of the situation thanks to Shimron Hetmyer and Sanju Samson, with the former continuing to be undefeated as the Royals completed the chase with 4 balls to spare.
