Hardik Pandya spent seven seasons with the Mumbai Indians under Rohit Sharma before joining the Gujarat Titans.
Mumbai Indians have named Hardik Pandya as their captain for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The 30-year-old, who returned to the franchise earlier this month in an all-cash deal from Gujarat Titans, replaces Rohit Sharma, who was appointed captain in 2013 and guided the team to five title titles in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020.
On Friday, the team’s Instagram feed revealed Pandya’s appointment.
“The Mumbai Indians announced a major leadership transition for the upcoming 2024 season today.” “The illustrious Rohit Sharma, the franchise’s longest-serving, one of the most successful and loved captains, will be succeeded as captain of the Mumbai Indians by renowned all-rounder Hardik Pandya,” the team wrote.
