Hardik Pandya is predicted to secure a berth in India’s 15-man T20 World Cup squad, notwithstanding Shivam Dube’s remarkable ascent, according to a report.
Hardik Pandya, India’s all-rounder, may not have the best form, but the ‘TINA’ factor is likely to get him selected for the T20 World Cup 2024. There is no like-for-like substitute for Hardik. Though Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Shivam Dube has been in excellent form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season, the team’s reluctance to deploy him as a bowler is expected to work in Hardik’s benefit, according to reports.
Hardik has no TINA to replace him, hence PTI reports that he will probably make India’s 15-man World Cup roster. Hardik should also benefit from his skill as an all-around fielder and his ability to bat, as he can score runs at a strike average of 132.
Pandya has bowled 17 overs out of a possible 32 for the Mumbai Indians in eight games during the 17th IPL season so far.
He has only hit seven sixes as a designated finisher in these games, which is below average by any standard. The free-flowing bat-swing is missing from the 150 odd runs he has scored in the competition with a strike rate of 142.
While Hardik is a more complete all-rounder, Dube’s batting form has elevated him to the ranks of the best finishers in the game. Dube may not compete with Hardik for the all-rounder berth, but he is a strong contender for a spot in the 15.
