The ball tampering incident in Pakistan’s T20 World Cup 2024 loss to the USA has been attributed to pacer Haris Rauf.

Pakistan’s difficulties right now just don’t seem to be going away. Pakistani player Haris Rauf has been charged with tampering with the ball during the match on Thursday following the team’s crushing loss to the United States in their opening Twenty20 World Cup 2024 encounter. Rusty Theron, a former South Africa pacer who currently plays for the USA senior national cricket team, took to social media and tagged the International Cricket Council (ICC) in an accusatory post directed at Pakistan’s veteran pacer Rauf.

In 4 overs, Rauf took just 1 wicket and gave up 37 runs, demonstrating his weak ball-handling skills against the USA. In an attempt to induce the new ball to reverse and confuse the American hitters, Theron said during the game that the express pacer had driven his nails through it.

Though the claim is still very serious, it appears that the USA team has not yet filed an official complaint regarding the incident.

Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, dismissed his bowlers after the match, saying they should have been able to do better against the USA team despite just needing to defend a meek score of 159.
“We are not capable of taking wickets in the first six overs; we are better bowlers than that.” We are under pressure if your spinner fails to take wickets in the middle overs. Although we did rally after ten overs, Babar stated in the post-match press conference that “I think the US team deserves the credit for how they finished the game in the Super Over.”

In an attempt to win the championship again, Pakistan will next take on their bitter rivals, India.
