Former first-class cricket player Lorgat oversaw three World Cups while serving as the CEO of the ICC from 2008 to 2012, and he was instrumental in innovations including the Decision Review System (DRS).
Lorgat, a former first-class cricketer, was the ICC CEO from 2008 to 2012, supervising three World Cups and being instrumental in reforms such as the Decision Review System (DRS), the extension of anti-corruption measures, and the growth of cricket in associate countries.
“I’m honored to take on this role with the National Cricket League at this watershed moment. Cricket is a sport that has the potential to inspire new players and unite supporters across the United States,” Lorgat said in a statement.
“We’re bringing something fresh, and with our focus on sustainability and global access, we are laying the groundwork to reshape American sports for future generations,” she said.
The NCL will conduct its debut Sixty Strikes Tournament, a new 60-ball cricket format approved by the International Cricket Council, under Lorgat’s guidance.
The tournament will be held at the institution of Dallas from October 4 to 14, making it the first national sports league partnership with an institution, with the NCL estimating a daily attendance of approximately 4,000 people.

Top players from all around the world will be participating in the league this year, including Chris Lynn, Angelo Mathews, Colin Munro, Sam Billings, Mohammad Nabi, Robin Uthappa, Suresh Raina, Dinesh Karthik, Shakib Al Hasan, and Tabraiz Shamsi.
The league will also include industry veterans in the role of mentors and trainers, including Blair Franklin, Moin Khan, Sanath Jayasuriya, Venkatesh Prasad, Wasim Akram, Zaheer Abbas, and Sir Vivian Richards.
