The celebration of KKR pacer Harshit Rana following a wicket in the match against LSG caught the fans’ attention.
The pacer for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) couldn’t help but repeat his on-field celebrations in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against the Lucknow Super Giants, even though he had already received two punishments from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Rana was recently punished for violating the IPL Code of Conduct with a 100% fine on his match money and a one-match suspension. The uncapped Indian managed to “tease” the IPL’s organizers while not going crazy with his celebration versus LSG.
Following Harshit’s celebration during the match against the Lucknow team, supporters thought the bowler was making fun of the BCCI. The pacer held his finger to his mouth, and KKR chose to post a picture of the incident on social media.
“According to Article 2.5 of the IPL Code of Conduct, Rana committed a Level 1 offense. He took the match referee’s punishment after acknowledging his wrongdoing. The match referee’s ruling is final and binding for Level 1 violations of the Code of Conduct,” the statement continued.
“The player was earlier penalised under the same level and article of the IPL Code of Conduct,” said the statement.
It’s unclear at this time whether Harshit Rana would receive additional punishment from the BCCI for his celebration against the Super Giants.
