Harshit Rana, a bowler for the Kolkata Knight Riders, was fined 60% of his match fee for violating the code of conduct during the IPL 2024 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders player Harshit Rana resulted in a severe punishment for his violation of the code of conduct. According to reports, the KKR bowler was fined because of his farewells to Heinrich Klaasen and Mayank Agarwal of the SRH. Against the Sunrisers, the youthful seamer for the Knight Riders proved to be the match-winner, particularly with his valiant final over. However, his behaviour let many down, and the Indian Premier League withheld 60% of his match pay.
“By breaking the IPL Code of Conduct during his team’s Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on March 23, bowler Harshit Rana of the Kolkata Knight Riders has been fined a total of sixty percent of his match earnings.
According to IPL Code of Conduct Article 2.5, Rana committed two Level 1 offenses. For the two offenses, he was penalized 10% and 50% of his match fees, respectively. Rana took the Match Referee’s punishment after acknowledging the two infractions. The Match Referee’s ruling is definitive and enforceable for Level 1 violations of the Code of Conduct, according to an IPL press release.
KKR won by 4 runs thanks to Harshit’s ability to contain SRH while defending 13 runs in the last over.
Even with Andre Russell’s all-around performance, Heinrich Klaasen’s one-man show nearly destroyed KKR, as Harshit had to hold on for 13 runs in the last over.
“I had butterflies in my stomach right from the 17th over,” KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer remarked after the game in the post-match presentation. I thought that the last over could contain anything. We didn’t have the best bowler in the team, and they required 13 runs.
Whatever occurs, it is irrelevant to him. He was scared when he walked in, but I simply looked him in the eyes and told him, “This is your moment, buddy.” I told him that whatever happened in the game, he should believe in himself.
Later, when asked about Russell and Sunil Narine’s performances, with the latter not setting a boundary in his period, Narine stated, “They have such experience. It was great to see Andre play with bat and ball, and Sunny (Narine) was as impressive. It’s fantastic to have them around!”
“Beginning with a win is always motivating. This game also teaches us a lot; there is a lot we can take away from this experience. “I believe we need to improve our fielding,” Iyer concluded.
