The Hockey India League (HIL) could be the breath of new air Victor Wegnez has been waiting for. The midfielder, who turns 29 on Wednesday, had a disappointing Olympics in Paris as defending champion Belgium placed sixth. He took a break from practicing with the national group and switched teams in the Belgian Hockey League. He was looking for things to pursue outside of sports when a medical problem threw a wrench in his plans.
