After Newcastle United was eliminated by lower-league Sheffield Wednesday, holders Liverpool were held to a tense 2-2 draw at home by Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup third round match on Saturday.

But teams from the Premier League Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City, West Ham United, and Southampton all advanced to the fourth round.

As Josh Windass of League One (third tier) team Sheffield Wednesday scored twice in the second half, Newcastle, who is currently third in the top flight, went down by two goals.

Substitute Chris Wood’s original effort from a corner was blocked by goalkeeper Cameron Dawson in the 69th minute, but it was only a consolation for Newcastle as Bruno Guimaraes tapped in from close range.

The oldest football competition in the world is known for its shocking results, and Nottingham Forest, who made 11 changes from the team that defeated Southampton 1-0 in midweek, was eliminated after losing 4-1 to struggling second-tier team Blackpool.
