The players are now expected to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi before leaving for Mumbai to participate in an open-top bus procession.

Following their successful campaign at the 2024 T20 World Cup, the Indian cricket team has finally arrived in Delhi. When the Air India aircraft bringing the T20 global champions touched down at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, it was approximately 6:05 AM. The Rohit Sharma-led Indian squad left the airport and got onto their team bus at around seven in the morning. After other teammates boarded the team bus ahead of Rohit, the captain, he mesmerized the airport crowd by walking out holding the T20 World Cup trophy.

Despite the weather, hundreds of fans braved the elements to greet the winning team, who defeated South Africa by seven runs in the final in Bridgetown last Saturday. They waved the national flag and carried signs celebrating their favorites.

“For the past thirteen years, we have been waiting for this day. One supporter, who claimed to have been waiting since 4:30 a.m., remarked, “The team has made us proud by winning the World Cup,” alluding to India’s 2011 World Cup victory.

Next, the Indian team proceeded directly to the ITC Maurya Hotel in Chanakyapuri, where they received yet another cordial welcome. For the heroes, a cake in the Indian team’s jersey colors was also made.

Due to airport closures caused by Hurricane Beryl’s impact on the Caribbean city, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and other squad members were stranded in Barbados, the site of the final, since Monday. But Team India was able to land early on Thursday morning after a special flight was scheduled for them. Prior to starting an open-top bus parade in Mumbai, the players are now expected to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Later that day, in the nation’s capital, at around 11 am, the team is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
