Yuvraj Singh, a former India all-rounder, has claimed that he was denied a spot on the Gujarat Titans team.
Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has disclosed that his offer to play for the Gujarat Titans was rejected. Yuvraj expressed his desire to manage an Indian Premier League (IPL) team, revealing that he asked Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra for a position, but the request was turned down.
Yuvraj, a significant role in previous IPL seasons with stints with teams such as Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Mumbai Indians, played 132 IPL games, amassing 2750 runs with a best score of 83.
‘Let’s see what offers I get, but my priority is my kids right now. When kids start school, I will have more time to pick up (coaching). I enjoy working with young men, especially my state lads, and I believe that mentoring is something I would enjoy doing. ‘I’m absolutely interested in joining one of the IPL teams,’ Yuvraj said, according to news sources.
Despite the failure with the Gujarat Titans, Yuvraj remains optimistic about his future in cricket. He indicated a desire to give back to the game by assisting future players in improving their abilities. Yuvraj also hinted at a possible mentorship role for the Indian cricket team in order to mentally prepare players for future challenges.
Yuvraj reflected on India’s quest for an ICC title, mentioning the team’s recent loss in the 2023 World Cup final against Australia. He cited India’s Champions Trophy victory in 2013 and World Cup victory in 2011, implying the need of mental preparation for success on the world stage.
