Jitesh Sharma, the designated finisher for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, claimed that batting lower in the order has changed the meaning of his knocks.
Batting lower in the order has changed the value of his knocks, according to Jitesh Sharma, the designated finisher for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He now considers scores of 30 or 40 to be equal to a fifty. Jitesh has frequently struded out to bat at No. 6 in the 2025 Indian Premier League, and his most noteworthy contribution to yet has been a 40 off 19 balls in RCB’s 12-run victory over the Mumbai Indians a few days ago. Everyone seems to be a finisher these days. But since I started finishing, I haven’t scored a fifty, so it’s challenging to bat at No. 6 or No. 7. I worked as an opener. I used to score fifties and hundreds in the past,” Jitesh stated in the most recent RCB Bold Diaries episode. The 31-year-old, though, stated that he enjoys a team win more than a personal milestone.
It used to be fun for me to raise my bat when I accomplished something. However, I have never had the opportunity to make a fifty since I started as a finisher. For the most part, it has been 10 balls, 30 runs. 40 runs at 20 balls.
“For us, these scores have reached 50. A score of 60 to 70 in 30 balls is equivalent to a 100. And if the team wins, I’m delighted, really happy doing,” he continued. However, Jitesh claimed that he had certain advantages as a wicketkeeper, including the chance to observe the pitch and opposing hitters during a game.
“There’s no doubt that your mind becomes weary. You may take control of the game from there, which is an advantage. You get a sense of what the bowlers on your squad are capable of doing on a surface. Another advantage is that you can read other big batters.
“A novice batsman comprehends the wicket when he takes four to six balls. I’ve kept the wicket before, so I know that in two balls. I continue to participate for 240 balls. That’s what I enjoy most about cricket,” he remarked.
Jitesh was also commended by RCB mentor Dinesh Karthik for the effort he is making in his game.He is constantly eager to learn new things. What can I do? he asks. He refers to me as Anna. Those discussions have been really constructive. At this point, he’s open to trying anything I suggest.
That’s why it’s so much pleasure. I feel like I can push myself (with Jitesh) if I work with him for a year or two,” he continued.
