The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the ICC Men’s and Women’s Players of the Month for December 2024, recognizing India’s Jasprit Bumrah and Australia’s Annabel Sutherland. Bumrah, the top-ranked Test bowler, showcased remarkable performances during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia, taking 22 wickets in three Tests at an impressive average of 14.22. His standout spells included four for 61 in Adelaide and six for 76 in Brisbane, contributing significantly to India’s resistance as they battled back from a 1-0 deficit.
On the other hand, Sutherland excelled in Australia’s ODI matches against India and New Zealand, earning Player of the Series accolades twice for her all-round contributions. Both players were selected through a global fan vote at icc-cricket.com, alongside a panel of ICC Hall of Famers and former international players.
This marks Bumrah’s second ICC Men’s Player of the Month award, having previously defeated nominees Pat Cummins and Dane Paterson. Similarly, Sutherland secured her second ICC Women’s Player of the Month title, surpassing competitors Smriti Mandhana and Nonkululeko Mlaba. As Bumrah aims for further accolades, he is nominated for the ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year award and the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year.
