On Tuesday, October 10, the ODI World Cup 2023 will feature a clash between the two Asian powerhouses Sri Lanka (SL) and Pakistan (PAK) in Hyderabad. Pakistan entered the major competition after a lacklustre performance at the Asia Cup 2023. They also lost in their two exhibition games against Australia and New Zealand. To set a difficult goal of 287 and win by 81 runs against the Netherlands in their opening match, Babar Azam and company overcame a few minor batting breakdowns.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka entered the competition after being completely destroyed by an Indian team in form in the Asia Cup final. Sri Lanka also dropped its two exhibition games against Bangladesh and Afghanistan, much like Pakistan did. Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera, two well-known performers for the Lankans, are absent. In Delhi’s first match against South Africa, their bowling misfired. The Proteas struck a record-breaking 428/5 in their 50 overs before dismissing Dasun Shanaka’s team for 326.
Prior to their eagerly awaited match against India on Saturday, October 14, Pakistan will try to win this match and gather momentum. On the other side, Sri Lanka will look to restart their campaign by building on their Asia Cup victory over the “Men in Green” on the last ball.

Pitch Report: Fans have witnessed numerous high-scoring games at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. The pitches available at the pitch are beneficial to the batters. Scores over 300 were recorded in each of the four innings of the two exhibition games played at this location. The field, however, wasn’t as good for the game between Pakistan and the Netherlands. In the second innings, Shadab Khan delivered a few balls that twisted brutally. While the hitters should still have a great time, the Sri Lankan team will need to adjust because the pitch could not be as batting-friendly as the one on which they played against South Africa in Delhi during the ODI World Cup 2023.
