At the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, during the historic IPL 2024 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, former Indian cricketer Kris Srikkanth said he was injured by the play.
Kris Srikkanth, a former India cricketer, said he was hurt when watching Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s bowling performance versus Sunrisers Hyderabad in a record-breaking IPL 2024 match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. On Monday night, RCB suffered their sixth defeat in seven games, losing by 25 runs to SRH, who managed the best total in IPL history with 287/3, breaking their previous record of 277 set against the Mumbai Indians (MI) earlier this season. Srikkanth chastised RCB, advising them to play with all 11 batters, particularly at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Srikkanth also claimed that Virat Kohli might have bowled better than the bowlers who conceded 287 runs in the contest.
“Reece Topley is being pummeled. Lockie Ferguson was being smashed. He hasn’t performed well in the IPL. He’s traveled from Kolkata to Bengaluru. “Will Jacks has been their best bowler,” Srikkanth stated on his YouTube show.
“It’s better that they play 11 batters. Ask Faf du Plessis to bowl two overs. Give Cameron Green four overs. I believe Virat Kohli would not have conceded as many if he had bowled four overs. Virat Kohli is a good bowler. At one point, I felt horrible for Virat Kohli, who was simply watching the balls fly out of the stadium. When he walked out to bat, he was visibly agitated. Klaasen’s head smashed into them after that. But Abdul Samad’s knock was the last nail in the coffin.”
RCB came into the match without a single specialist spinner, and with Mohammad Siraj on the bench, their bowling lineup appeared inexperienced. They went after Will Jacks’ off-spin, and he was dismissed for 32 in three overs. Pace bowlers Reece Topley, Yash Dayal, Lockie Ferguson, and Vijaykumar Vyshak were dismissed for 137 in ten overs.
Sunrisers smashed 22 sixes, setting another IPL record, while RCB hit 16. Sunrisers Hyderabad took their T20 batting to the next level in this encounter. It was impressive as they hit 41 boundaries across the innings.
There has only been one IPL match in which a side has hit more boundaries: the well-known 2013 clash between the Pune Warriors and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Chris Gayle scored 30 of the 42 goals that day.
