Virat Kohli, the star batsman for India, hit his 30th Test century on the third day of the first Test match against Australia in Perth. In their second innings, India declared 487/6, with Kohli reaching triple figures in 143 balls, giving Australia a 534-run victory goal. Australia great Sir Donald Bradman was surpassed by Kohli, who achieved his first Test century after 16 months, as the player with the most tons in the longest format. In the 29 hundreds before the Perth Test, Kohli and Bradman were tied.
The top player on the list is Sachin Tendulkar, who retired in 2013 after amassing 49 Test hundreds. The fourth Indian to reach 30 or more hundreds is Kohli.
Rahul Dravid (36), Sunil Gavaskar (34), and Tendulkar were the only Indians to score more hundreds than Kohli.
By the time India’s interim captain, Jasprit Bumrah, announced the innings, Kohli was undefeated at 100. At the time of the announcement, Nitish Kumar Reddy was likewise undefeated on 38.
Yashasvi Jaiswal had earlier given India a psychological edge in the five-Test series with a magnificent 161.

After Australia was dismissed for a pitiful 104 in response to India’s 150, the visitors took control on day two and resumed with a 218-run lead.
