On the fourth day of the first test between India and New Zealand at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday, Sarfaraz Khan struck his first century in the format. As a result, he became the 183rd hitter overall and the 22nd Indian batsman to register a century and a duck in the same Test.
Shubman Gill, who accomplished the extraordinary feat last month in Chennai against Bangladesh, was the last Indian batter to accomplish the same. In 2014, Shikhar Dhawan became the only other Indian player to register a duck and a hundred against New Zealand, recording scores of 0 and 115 at Eden Park in Auckland.
