Anmolpreet Singh, a top-order batsman for Punjab, has entered the record books with the third-fastest List A century, with a 35-ball effort that puts him at No. 3 on the all-time list. He reached his century with 11 fours and eight sixes, while all of the Arunachal Pradesh bowlers went for plenty, with left-arm spinner Hardik Verma being the most economical at 9.52. However, he had a particular fondness for offspinner Techi Neri, who gave up 31 runs in his single over.
Anmolpreet’s blitz helped Punjab defeat Arunachal Pradesh by nine wickets, surpassing their 164 in just 12.5 overs. After reaching the three-figure mark, Anmolpreet struck one more six and one more four to end with 115 in 45 balls. With a rather calm score of 35 in 25 balls, Prabhsimran Singh, Abhishek’s opening partner, was the other undefeated hitter.
In January 2015, De Villiers hit 149 in 44 balls for South Africa against the West Indies in Johannesburg, breaking the record for the fastest List A century, which is still the fastest ODI century. In the 2014 match against the West Indies, Corey Anderson of New Zealand set a new List A and ODI record of 36 balls. De Villiers’ List A record remained in place until Fraser-McGurk, playing for South Australia against Tasmania in a losing effort in the Marsh Cup in October 2023, reached the top spot with just 29 balls.
Anmolpreet, who previously played for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL, went unsold in the most recent IPL auction despite having mediocre returns.
