India survived repeated comeback attempts from South Korea to go to the championship game.
India started the game off strong and held a 3-0 lead at the end of the first period. But the second was a different tale. With two quick goals, South Korea almost fully reversed the situation. They appeared to be outplaying India, but the 2014 champions scored from a penalty corner to increase the margin of victory. They were able to finish the half and held a 4-2 advantage at the break. The third period was tense, and just as it appeared that India was settling in, South Korea scored from a penalty corner to make the score 4-3.
The three-time winners somehow managed to hold off the Korean danger in the third quarter to set up a tight final 15 minutes after some shoddy defence from India resulted in this goal. South Korea started the fourth quarter strong, but it seemed as though the pressure of the game soon caught up with them. Near the end of the quarter, Abhishek scored, giving India the win. On Friday, they will compete against either Japan or China.
