India defeated Bangladesh by seven wickets in the opening T20 International of the three-match series.
After winning the World Cup earlier in the year, Team India demonstrated why they deserve to be called the “Champions” when they played their first Twenty20 International match at home. The Indian openers, Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma, arrived with all guns blazing, and after knocking Bangladesh out for 127 in 19.5 overs on a ground that was conducive to batting, the batters made a mess of the target. India’s scoring rate was unaffected by Abhishek Sharma’s unfortunate run-out while attempting to take a nonexistent single. After hitting three elegant sixes and fell for 29, captain Suryakumar Yadav displayed his 360-degree play.The game’s top scorer, Hardik Pandya, amassed 39 runs off of just 16 balls. With a huge six off Taskin Ahmed’s bowling, he was the one who sent India home.
Along with pacer Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakravarthy was the best bowler in the bowling department. It was Chakravarthy’s first Twenty20 international match after more than a millennium, and he took three wickets. Along with his three-for, Arshdeep contributed to India’s restriction of Bangladesh to a pitiful first-inning total. For his spell, Arshdeep was also named Player of the Match.
