Glenn Maxwell’s 4/40 assists Australia in winning the series final in Rajkot. Despite half-centuries from Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, India lose by 66 runs. The host squad was bowled out for 286 while pursuing 353 runs.

Australia won by 66 runs over India in the third and final ODI on Wednesday in Rajkot, breaking a five-match losing streak.

Australia compiled a staggering 352 for seven in its final game before the World Cup, riding the fifties of Mitchell Marsh (96), David Warner (56), Steve Smith (74) and Marnus Labuschagne (72).

India’s response got off to a strong start, led by skipper Rohit Sharma, who scored an explosive 81 that included five fours and six sixes. Following up with a half-century (56) upon his return, Virat Kohli. Glenn Maxwell (4/40) managed to skim over the top, but a depleted lower order was unable to maintain its momentum in the pursuit.

India will now play Australia in their ODI World Cup opener on October 8 at Chennai’s M. A. Chidambaram Stadium after the series was decided 2-1 in favour of India.
