Smith reached his 33rd career century after reaching the hundred in 185 balls. On the list of Australia’s most hundreds in Test matches, he surpassed Steve Waugh. Ricky Ponting (41) is the only one with more hundreds.
At the Brisbane Cricket Ground, Australia’s Steve Smith struck a century on the second day of the third Test match against India on Sunday.The former captain of Australia reached his 33rd century of the game after reaching the century in 185 balls. In terms of the most hundreds for Australia in Test matches, he surpassed Steve Waugh. Ricky Ponting (41) has more hundreds than anybody else.
With a century after 25 innings, Smith’s run of low scores came to an end. Smith scored his final century in the Ashes match against England in June 2023 at the Lord’s. Only four of his scores were 50 or above during this time.
In Test matches against India, he also tied Joe Root of England for the most hundreds. Ten hundreds have been scored by both batters against the team.
