The second Border Gavaskar Trophy Test began well for India, but the hosts soon found themselves in trouble after Australian spinner Nathan Lyon demolished the Indian batting unit. After a positive first day, India lost four wickets in the first session of Day 2, and the Aussies continued to haunt India in the second session as well.

The Indian stalwart, who was brilliantly anchoring India’s innings and playing a composed knock, dismissed off Matthew Kuhnemann’s controversial delivery. After losing four wickets in the first session, Virat Kohli teamed up with Ravindra Jadeja to resurrect India’s innings and set the ship in motion. Before Todd Murphy gave Australia the crucial breakthrough, the two contributed nearly equally in their 59-run partnership. Murphy dismissed Jadeja just as it appeared the duo had found the right balance, causing India to suffer.
