Jack Leach did not participate in training on Wednesday after sustaining an injury during Sunday’s exciting 28-run victory in the first Test match for England.

Ben Stokes, the captain of England, revealed on Wednesday that spinner Jack Leach will miss the second Test against India, which begins on Friday, due to a knee injury.

After suffering the injury on Sunday during the opening Test match, which England won by an exciting 28 runs, the 32-year-old was unable to play on Wednesday.

According to Stokes, “He’s out of the second Test.” “Hopefully, it doesn’t cause him to miss more of the series.”

Twenty-year-old spinner Shoaib Bashir, who was Leach’s colleague at Somerset, is a contender to replace him on the international scene.

Due to a delayed visa that was eventually resolved, Bashir was unable to play in the first Test match against India.

“Everyone was extremely, extremely impressed with what Bash (Bashir) showed, so when it came time to select the squad, there wasn’t too much thought around him,” Stokes continued.

“Bashir provided our spin group with all the answers we could ask for.”

The second Test between the United States and India is scheduled for February 2–6, in Visakhapatnam.
