The Indian squad took a chartered flight from Guwahati after its final warm-up game for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 against England was rained out.

The Indian squad arrived in the city on Sunday evening, some 20 minutes late, for their ODI World Cup warm-up match against the Netherlands.

As the members of the group exited the terminal, hundreds of fans gathered outside the airport yelled ‘India, India,’ welcome them to Kerala’s capital.

Virat Kohli did not travel with the team, despite the fact that head coach Rahul Dravid and Jasprit Bumrah were among the first to board the team van. According to sources, he will be in the city in plenty of time for the warm-up game.

However, as they arrived in Kerala, severe rains pelted the city, casting significant uncertainty on the remaining warm-up games.

The meteorological service had previously issued an orange signal for Thiruvananthapuram and a few other districts, and rain is expected over the next few days.

While Kerala Cricket Association officials are optimistic about obtaining a full game, supporters have been lukewarm, owing primarily to poor weather.

The Indian team is staying at a posh beach-side resort in Kovalam, approximately 15 miles from the airport, and provided the weather cooperates, Rohit Sharma and his team will train on Monday before facing the Dutch.
