In their last Super Eights match, India defeated Australia by 24 runs behind captain Rohit Sharma’s brilliant 41-ball 92 to advance to the T20 World Cup semifinals on Monday.

Rohit, who batted first, unleashed a devastating attack that saw him hit up to eight sixes and seven fours in his brilliant knock, leading India to a commanding 205 for five.

Australia was held to 181 for seven in the allotted 20 overs in response. With 76 runs off of 43 balls, Travis Head led Australia in scoring.

Kuldeep Yadav (2/24) was one of the best Indian bowlers in the middle overs; Arshdeep Singh finished with stats of 3/37.

Rohit had set the tone for India by going after pacer Mitchell Starc and bludgeoning him for 29 runs in his second over, unfazed by Virat Kohli’s early removal.

After being humiliated by Rohit, Starc came back to dismiss the India skipper and provide some respite to the Australian camp.

However, Shivam Dube (28 off 22) and Suryakumar Yadav (31 off 16 balls) maintained the pace with their powerful knocks until Hardik Pandya (27 from 17) elegantly concluded the India innings.
