The Men in Blue improved their eight-match winning streak from the 2003 World Cup, where they were defeated by Australia in the final, to become the team with the longest winning run in World Cup history.
Earlier, India reached 410 for 4 in 50 overs thanks to scorching centuries from KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer. Iyer hit 102 runs while KL Rahul amassed an undefeated 128. Bas de Leede claimed two wickets for the Netherlands. After winning the toss, India captain Rohit Sharma decided to bat against the Netherlands.
