With little to lose, India selected Anupama Upadhyaya in the women’s singles in lieu of PV Sindhu, and the teenager did not disappoint, winning 21-16 21-18 over Tiffany Ho.
In the men’s doubles, MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila defeated Ricky Tang and Ryane Wang 21-11 21-12 to give India an unassailable 3-1 lead. Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa won the women’s doubles match in style, defeating Kaitlyn Ea and Angela Yu 21-19 21-13 to give India a consolation win.
