Yashavi Jaiswal scored his second half-century as India defeated Bangladesh by seven wickets in the second Test in Kanpur on Tuesday.
India defeated Bangladesh for 146 in their second innings earlier in the day.
At the crack of lunch on the last day of the match, the tourists collapsed as Jasprit Bumrah (3-17) finished off the tail after Ravindra Jadeja (3-34) destroyed Bangladesh’s middle order.
Day 5 of Bangladesh’s campaign began on 26/2. Despite losing two and a half days due to inclement weather, the home team is expected to win.
Ravichandran Ashwin (3-50) claimed his third wicket of the innings when he had Mominul Haque caught in the leg slip for two.Shadman Islam (50) and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto (19) put up a brief fight with a 55-run partnership, but India’s astute bowling adjustments and poor shot selection resulted in their wickets.
Shanto mishandled a reverse sweep, which, given the precarious circumstances of the moment, he should never have attempted in the first place. Jadeja then bowled Shanto.
After reaching fifty runs, Shadman moved away from his body and edged seamer Akash Deep to Yashasvi Jaiswal at the single slip.Jadeja, a left-arm spinner, removed Litton Das and Shakib Al Hasan in consecutive overs, while seamer Bumrah returned Mehidy Hasan Miraz to pin Bangladesh.
Mushfiqur Rahim (37) lingered for a while until being dismissed by Bumrah with the final delivery of the extended morning session.
India triumphed by 280 runs in the Chennai Test.
