Dubai, winners of the inaugural T20 World Cup India led the men’s T20I team rankings before of the forthcoming event, which would be co-hosted by the West Indies and the United States from June 1 to June 29.
West Indies, the two-time champions, have risen to fourth place, with their players in fine form ahead of the T20 final.
The victors of the 2012 and 2016 tournaments are ahead of New Zealand and South Africa following their 3-0 victory over South Africa, who is now eighth on the list, which is lead by India.
Australia is second with 257 points, England is third with 254 points, and the West Indies are two points back with 252.
New Zealand has 250 points, while Pakistan and South Africa each have 244 points, with Pakistan marginally ahead in decimal points.
Before their June 2 tournament start against Papua New Guinea in Guyana, the West Indies players have also benefited greatly from their outstanding performances in the home series.
Johnson Charles, who hit 69 off 26 balls to win Player of the Match in the third Twenty20 International, is up 17 places to 20th place, while opening batsman Brandon King is up five spots to eighth after leading the series aggregate with 159 runs.
With 102 runs overall, Kyle Mayers is another batsman who climbs up the rankings—he goes up 12 spots to 31st place. Gudakesh Motie, a left-arm spinner, goes up an incredible 84 spots to 27th place after taking eight wickets in the series.
The England captain Jos Buttler has crept up to seventh place in the most recent weekly update, which also takes into account performances in the last two matches of the Bangladesh-USA series and the current series between England and Pakistan. Jonny Bairstow has moved up eight spots to 36th place, while Pakistan’s opener Fakhar Zaman has moved up from 57th to 51st place.
Shaheen Afridi has moved up three spots to 11th in the bowling rankings, and Imad Wasim has moved up 14 spots to 38th, both of whom are Pakistani players.
Steven Taylor of the USA has risen 28 spots to 109 in the batting rankings, while Rishad Hussain of Bangladesh has climbed 38 spots to 52nd in the bowling rankings.
