According to Katie Sadleir, CEO of the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF), India ought to host the Commonwealth Games in 2030.
As India works toward its goal of hosting the 2036 Olympics, hosting the 2030 Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) would be a positive step, according to CGF CEO Katie Sadleir. On the second day of The Times Group ET NOW Global Business Summit, which took place here on Sunday, Sadleir gave a speech. “Hosting the Olympics would be an incredible achievement, and having the 2030 Commonwealth Games in India would be the right step towards that goal,” she added. The context of her remarks is the informal talks between the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and the CGF over the potential hosting of the 2030 CWG.
Sadleir stated that she is hopeful India will soon place in the top ten Olympic performers.
“India is doing transformative work. “India is poised to rank among the top 10 nations at the Olympics with the correct leadership, infrastructure, and enthusiasm,” she stated.
“Sports are hugely significant in creating the image of a country,” she explained. “Being recognised as a sporting powerhouse enhances a nation’s influence on the global stage.” In 2010, India became the first and only country to host the Commonwealth Games (CWG).The International Olympic Committee (IOC), which will not select the host until the following year, has received the nation’s official letter of intent to host the 2036 Olympics.
India’s expanding sports infrastructure has been hailed by Sadleir as evidence of the nation’s dedication to international contests.
“The political support and passion of the people here are amazing,” she stated. “The will is there, and people understand the power of sports and the Commonwealth Games.” Luciano Rossi, president of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF), spoke with her and reaffirmed the significance of India’s place in international sports.”India is putting forth a lot of effort in Bhopal as well as Delhi. “These initiatives are tangible steps that demonstrate India’s commitment to the future of sports,” he remarked.
