The India star supported his decision by pointing out that James Anderson competes in England, where the bowling environment differs from that of India.
Ishant Sharma, an Indian pacer, believes that Zaheer Khan was a superior bowler to James Anderson. He supported his argument by pointing out that the England pacer plays under different circumstances than the Indian pacer. Anderson has a middling ODI career, taking 269 wickets in 194 matches, but a distinguished Test career, taking 686 wickets in 180 matches. In this format, he has taken 32 five-wicket hauls, and his best bowling performance was 11/71. If Anderson had played the majority of his games in Indian conditions, Ishant believes he might not have had the same level of success.
In an interview with Ranveer Allahbadia posted on the latter’s YouTube channel, Zaheer shared his ideas.
Jimmy Anderson bowls in a very different manner and with a different flair. He performs under many circumstances. In England, he performs. Maybe he (Anderson) wouldn’t have achieved that type of success if he had played in India, Ishant stated before Ranveer Allahbadia grinned and added.
Ishant responded, “Zak is better than Jimmy Anderson.”
In 200 ODI matches for India, Zaheer Khan took 282 wickets. He played 92 times for India in the longest format, taking 311 wickets. He has 11 five-wicket hauls towards the end of his Test career.
Zaheer’s international cricket career is already over, whereas Anderson is still playing for England in Test matches. In the starting XI for the opening Ashes 2023 Test against Australia was the right-arm pacer.
In the first game, Anderson performed poorly, managing to take just one wicket while giving up 109 runs.
