Ajit Agarkar, the chairman of the selection committee, and Indian captain Rohit Sharma will field questions over the 15-member Indian squad chosen for the major tournament.
The 15-member Indian team that has been selected for the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean and the USA next month will be discussed at a news conference shortly to be held at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai by Captain of the Indian Cricket Team Rohit Sharma and Chairman of the Senior Selection Committee Ajit Agarkar.
During the press conference, Rohit and Agarkar will probably clarify some of the most discussed choices that went into selecting the 15-person squad for the major tournament.
The decision to leave Rinku Singh off the side has been one of the most divisive. Another topic of discussion has been the selectors’ apparent rejection of the Indian team think tank’s model of choosing younger players by placing equal trust in Rohit and Virat Kohli.
As vice captain, the team will also feature Hardik Pandya, who is now under pressure.
In the competition for the second wicket-keeper position, Sanju Samson defeated KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant has returned to the Indian squad after nearly a fifteen-month absence. Since his terrible vehicle accident in December 2022, the wicketkeeper-batter has not played cricket.
Rohit Sharma (Captain), Hardik Pandya (Vice Captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (WK), Sanju Samson (WK), Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Siraj.
Reserves: Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan
