India (IND) will face West Indies (WI) in the second ODI of the India Tour of the West Indies on July 29 at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. India leads the three-match series 1-0 and is the favourite to win both this match and the series. However, the West Indies will be looking forward to providing some opposition and not making things too easy for India.

Both of these teams met in their previous encounter at the same site, where India won the toss and chose to field. After being put to bat, West Indies lost Kyle Mayers early to Pandya but had a solid second-wicket partnership. The Indian pacers took two wickets in rapid succession. The West Indies’ already difficult game became even more difficult once spinners were added. They lost seven wickets to spin, and Jadeja and Kuldeep wasted little time in cleaning up the entire team. West Indies were clubbed together simply for the score of 114.

Even though such a short goal would never have been a difficult total for India, early wickets would have given the West Indies some optimism. In some ways, they were successful in doing so by dismissing Shubhman Gill early, but a solid partnership between Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav meant the game was never out of the Indian Cricket Team’s grasp. India lost some wickets in an attempt to quickly chase the score, but they were always in command. Ishan struck a brilliant fifty in the chase, and India easily won by five wickets.

Pitch Report: The pitch of the Kensington Oval is more beneficial to bowlers, particularly pacers. The ball would swing nicely towards the start of the inning and then swing back towards the finish. Batters would need to be cautious before taking their shots. Teams who win the toss opt to bowl, with 205 being the average first-inning total.
