Ashton Agar did not play in either of the first two Tests against India.
Ashton Agar is returning home to play in the Sheffield Shield and the Marsh Cup for Western Australia. Ashton Agar was named to Australia’s 18-man squad that is currently touring India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023.
However, Ashton Agar did not play in the first two Test matches, as Todd Murphy was selected for the first and Matt Kuhnemann for the second. Adam Gilchrist called Agar’s treatment ‘insulting’ after being overlooked in such a way.
It should be noted that Ashton Agar is one of many players who have recently left the Australian squad to return home. Josh Hazlewood had initially returned due to his Achilles injury recovery, but David Warner has been ruled out for the rest of the series due to a fractured elbow. In addition, skipper Pat Cummins has returned home due to family health issues, though he is expected to return before the third Test begins.
