England appears destined for yet another loss in Dharamsala as they trail the five-match series 1-3.
India and England’s 5th Test match was a tremendously dominant first day for the hosts. Before declaring 135/1 before the close of play on the first day of play in Dharamsala, Rohit Sharma’s team restricted England to just 218 runs in the first innings. After watching Team India thoroughly destroy England in the fifth and final Test of the series, former India head coach Ravi Shastri predicted that Ben Stokes would require some Indian players in his side to defeat India.
India faced England on Thursday seemingly unfazed by the fact that the series was already decided. Rohit Sharma and Yashsasvi Jaiswal did most of the damage with the bat, but Kuldeep Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin led the team’s assault with the ball, taking 5 and 4 wickets, respectively.
Positioned in the commentary box, Shastri wasted no time in expressing his opinion on the status of England’s performance in Dharamsala.
England needs to utilize India’s whole bowling assault in order to defeat them in India. The former India head coach stated, “They need a Yashasvi Jaiswal, a Rohit Sharma, and a few others.”
