Pakistan is much lower, at number 16, than India, which is ranked fourth in the world.
On Wednesday, a powerful India destroyed arch-rival Pakistan 4-0 to keep their perfect record in the hockey competition known as the Asian Champions Trophy alive. Skipper Harmanpreet Singh scored twice from penalty corners in that matchup.
India played with assurance and fully controlled the match, thoroughly eliminating Pakistan, who was constantly playing catch-up due to the fact that they had already secured their semifinal position prior to the game.
Just before the first quarter came to a close, Harmanpreet gave India the lead by completing the team’s first penalty corner with a strong low flick to the left of Pakistan custodian Akmal Hussain. In the 23rd minute, India was awarded their second penalty corner, and Harmanpreet converted it into a goal by slamming a vicious drag-flick through Akmal’s legs for Pakistan.
