After the Men In Blue defeated the Australians in a comeback T20 series, every Indian player had a smile on his face. After their early exit from the Asia Cup earlier this month, Rohit and his team needed a boost going into the World T20, which begins in three weeks, thus the series victory on Sunday was crucial.
The final round of India’s World T20 preparations is now underway. For their final three T20 games before the major competition Down Under, South Africa has taken the place of Australia as their opposition, and the two countries will face off in the first of those games on Wednesday night at the Greenfield stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.
The Indian batting appears to be mostly in control. In the series against Australia, both of the openers, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, each played one solid innings. But they would like to make up for their tendency to be overly aggressive against the Proteas since poor shot selection has recently contributed to their demise.
The key learning from the Australian series for India was Axar Patel’s skill with the ball. It will be intriguing to watch if the team management choose Ravichandran Ashwin over Yuzvendra Chahal in this game given his recent mediocre showing.
