India wins a one-off Women’s Test match against South Africa by ten wickets

In the one-off Test, India defeated South Africa by a margin of ten wickets in a convincing victory.

In the one-off Women’s Test match held here on Monday, India crushed South Africa by 10 wickets. The contest saw multiple records broken, including opener Shafali Verma’s fastest double-century ever and Sneh Rana’s incredible 8/77 first-innings total. Chasing a massive Indian first-inning total of 603/6 declared, which was mainly supported by Shafali’s 197-ball 205 and Smriti Mandhana’s 149, off-spinner Rana recorded career-best figures to dismiss the visitors for 266.

With SA needing 337 runs to close the gap, India forced a follow-on.

In the second innings, former captain Sune Luus (109) and captain Laura Wolvaardt (122) of South Africa fought with determination. Nadine de Klerk, a middle-order batsman, scored 61 runs to get the visitors up to 373, giving the hosts a goal of 37 runs.

The formalities were finished in 9.2 overs by Shubha Satheesh (13 not out) and Shafali (24 not out).

From July 5–9, at Chennai, India and South Africa will play three T20I

South Africa needed 337 runs to close the gap when India forced a follow-on.

The second innings saw a fierce battle between former South Africa captain Sune Luus (109) and captain Laura Wolvaardt (122). The visitors reached 373 thanks to middle-order batsman Nadine de Klerk’s 61, giving the hosts a goal of 37 runs.

In 9.2 overs, Shafali (24 not out) and Shubha Satheesh (13 not out) finished the formalities.

From July 5 to 9, three Twenty20 Internationals between India and South Africa will take place in Chennai.
